Creating the Photographic Book Start to Finish

In this workshop you will learn how to edit, sequence, and lay out a book project from start to finish using Blurb's BookSmart software. Each workshop attendee will bring digital files of 25 to 30 images from a body of work, or personal project.
The workshop will include:
- Matching your work to a book design- colors, sizes, and more
- Developing a theme relating to subject and using a color palette
- Selecting and sequencing images
- Matching images that contribute to a page or spread
- Creating the cover, and each page, including layout options
- Image editing for your book- contrast, color correction, and sharpening step by step
- Color managing your book for printing
- Managing expenditure through good design
- Book Distribution- as a product or portfolio
College credit is available for this workshop.
Presenter Bio
Jerry Courvoisier is a photographer, educator, digital artist, world-class Photoshop and Lightroom specialist, and internationally recognized imaging technology consultant. A popular teacher of photography, imaging applications, and printmaking workshops, Jerry's passion for photography, combined with his enthusiasm for sharing knowledge, is why he is the person others turn to for solid advice on digital imaging technologies.
Jerry is known for sharing knowledge, and the many and varied experiences he's had as a photographer, workflow consultant, and author helps him shape a patient, logical, experiential approach to his teaching style. He nurtures a deep appreciation for everyone's interest in photography and shares his passion for photography. A key distinction to Jerry's approach to teaching is a straightforward, no-nonsense learning process. He keeps the emphasis always on the photograph and whatever keeps people taking pictures and feeding their creativity.
From his base in Santa Fe, he has taught with the National Geographic Expeditions series, and his teaching and consulting journeys have taken him to the UK, Italy, Germany, and Australia. Jerry's new book, Lessons in DSLR Workflow with Lightroom 2.0 and Photoshop, was published by Peachpit Press in 2008.
